Former Award Recipients

Living the Ritual

Purpose: To recognize individual members who exemplify their chapter’s values and principles as described in their chapter’s ritual and challenge chapter and community members to do the same. Examples include combating hazing, Greek Life stereotypes, etc.

One male and one female will be selected from the Greek Community. In order to be considered for this award, one may not be a recipient of the Greek Man/Woman of the Year award.

Greek Man and Woman of the Year

Purpose: To recognize individuals who are a positive representation of their chapter and/or the Greek Community and who have excelled in the areas of community service/philanthropy, Greek involvement, and academics. One male and one female recipient will be selected from the Greek Community.

In order to be considered for this award, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA and may not be a recipient of the Living the Ritual award.

Greek Scholar of the Year

Purpose: To recognize the graduating senior with the highest cumulative GPA.

College Involvement Award

Purpose: To recognize individuals in the Greek community for demonstrating excellence in involvement in the College, for activities not directly related to Greek Life.  There is no limit to the number of recipients who may receive this award.

Challenging the Process

Purpose: To recognize individual members who exemplify their chapter’s values and principles as described in their chapter’s ritual and challenge chapter and community members to do the same. Examples include combating hazing, Greek Life stereotypes, etc.

Outstanding New Member

Purpose: To recognize outstanding achievements and contributions by sorority and fraternity members during their first year of membership. One male and one female recipient will be selected from the Greek Community.

Outstanding Advisor of the Year

Purpose: To recognize alumni/faculty advisors who not only have enhanced their individual chapters, but also the Marietta College community through their service. One recipient will be selected for this award.

Outstanding Alumni Relations Program

Purpose: To recognize chapters whose alumni relations program has innovative ideas in the areas of, but not limited to, communication with alumni, building relationships with alumni, and transitioning members to their alumni experience. One chapter will be chosen from the Greek Community, if organizations meet the eligibility.

Outstanding Philanthropy Program

Purpose: To recognize chapters whose philanthropy programs are well planned and executed, meaning that they are open and advertised to the College community and well attended by the Greek and College community. One chapter will be chosen from the Greek Community, if organizations meet the eligibility.

Outstanding Scholarship Program

Purpose: To recognize chapters whose scholarship program has innovative ideas, recognizes and rewards student academic success within the chapter, and works to improve the grades of the chapter members falling below the chapter's requirements. One chapter will be chosen from the Greek Community, if organizations meet the eligibility.

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year

Purpose: To recognize outstanding leaders in community service and volunteerism in the Marietta College and greater Marietta community. One recipient will be selected from the Greek Community..

Outstanding Member Education Program

Purpose: To recognize individual chapters that have shown a commitment to an outstanding educational program(s). Examples of educational programs can include, but are not limited to, new member education, member education, various workshops, risk management presentations, or diversity programming. One chapter will be chosen from the Greek Community, if organizations meet the eligibility.
