Panhellenic Council is the governing body of the three social sororities on campus that are members of the National Panhellenic Conference.

The purpose of Panhellenic is to foster interfraternity relationships and to promote high scholastic and social standards. This council is responsible for planning and coordinating recruitment for all of the sororities.

 

Sisterhood Day in Marietta

Not only was Monday, March 3rd, 2008, a day of celebration for women of Greek Life worldwide - as it was Panhellenic International Badge Day - it was also an especially significant day for the women of Marietta College's Panhellenic Community. On March 3rd, the Marietta College Panhellenic Community was presented with an incredible honor by the city of Marietta, Ohio as this day was proclaimed the first annual "Sisterhood Day in Marietta."

In celebration of this honor, the Panhellenic Council hosted a Sisterhood and Academic Dinner at 5 p.m. on March 3rd in the Andrews Great Room. The celebration was kicked off with an opening speech from Panhellenic President Gwen Chamberlain, who spoke on the power of sisterhood. Vinnie Mele, a developmental specialist for the city of Marietta, who came on behalf of Mayor Michael Mullen, presented the Panhellenic Community with a formal proclamation of "Sisterhood Day in Marietta." In addition to celebrating "Sisterhood Day," several academic awards were handed out to members of the Panhellenic Community. The award for the "Highest Overall Class GPA" of all Panhellenic Members was presented to the junior class with a cumulative GPA of 3.26. Awards were also handed out to women who obtained a 4.0 GPA for the Fall 2007 semester.

The dinner came to a close as members from all three chapters mingled and enjoyed each others company. It was surely a pleasant evening for all!
